Legacy Guides for Authors
Statement about the use of the guides:
To improve the clarity and ease of submission for authors and efficiency in review for the journal, JSE is replacing legacy guides (e.g., GRP/GRIP) with parallel templates for Empirical, Reflective, Community Engagement, and Interdisciplinary Problem-Solving manuscripts. Authors are expected to use the templates going forward. However, works already begun under a legacy guide may be submitted through December 31, 2026.
Guide for Reflective Practice (GRP): Designed for authors who wish to explore and document personal and professional experiences in teaching, research, or service. This guide helps authors frame their reflection within scholarly literature and demonstrate how their experiences contribute to academic and professional growth.
Guide for Reflection on Interdisciplinary Problems (GRIP): Intended for authors who analyze complex issues that span multiple disciplines. This guide supports the development of manuscripts that reflect on interdisciplinary challenges, integrating diverse perspectives and theoretical frameworks to advance understanding and potential solutions.
Community Engagement Portfolio: A resource for authors who document scholarly engagement within their communities. This guide assists in structuring portfolios that highlight meaningful collaborations, service-learning initiatives, and the impact of academic expertise applied to real-world contexts.
Professional Profile: Geared toward faculty and professionals who wish to showcase their scholarly journey, contributions, and achievements. This guide helps authors present their work in a way that highlights their role in advancing knowledge and practice in their respective fields.
Each guide provides clear expectations for manuscript content, structure, and submission requirements. We encourage authors to review the appropriate guide before submitting to ensure their work aligns with JSE’s standards and scope.
